The Seven Damning Sins of Soka Gakkai-Komeito
Soka Gakkai And Komeito Should Be Separated
Most of the seven great sins of Soka Gakkai-Komeito stem from the fact
that though Komeito claims to be a national political party for the public,
they are actually a political party which exists for the special profit
of one specific, religious group, Soka Gakkai. By the increase in
membership of Soka
Gakkai, the political power of Komeito expands automatically, and if
such a tactic is in itself, speaking from the political point of view,
an evil course, then I cannot avoid saying that it is desireable that the
relationship between the two should be completely severed.
But, if Soka Gakkai-Komeito is cut apart and disjoined, the inner substance
of Komeito would disappear. This is because they have absolutely
no political originality to appeal to the political consciousness of all
social strata who are not members of Soka Gakkai. If they remain
as they are now, and develop as Siamese twins, leaving aside the (luestion
whether or not this will take the form of a new style of fascism, as far
as the system of democracy in Japan is concerned, it will be: "hyakugai
atte, ichiri naki mono to naroo." (one hundred evils, not even one good.)
It seems that this is a good prospect.
When one of the Siamese twins dies, the other must also die, and in
the future there is the possibility that both will become envolved in some
miserable common ruin.
"To Caesar, the things of Caesar". I think this should be Soka Gakkai's
primary concern: that religious power return to religion's original mission.
This is why I strongly urge the dissolution of Komeito and a return to
an organization such as the Komei Seiji Renmei (Clean Government League).
The maximum of political advancement by a religious power should be
limited to standing for election in the Local Assemblies and the House
of Councillors and developing their political opinions from the view point
of their religion. If Komeito insists that unless they have a majority
in the House of Representatives, and come to power, they will not be able
to realize the ideal of obutsz' uzyogo, then it should be said that Soka
Gakkai does not belong to the sphere of religion to take charge of man's
spiritual life, and thus they should take
down their religious signboard. It is necessary for them to state
clearly where they stand.
If they say that they dissolve Soka Gakkai itself and become a propagandizing
organization for the political group, Komeito, then the subject is another.
This as far as Soka Gakkai- Komeito is concerned would be putting the cart
before the horse. To the contrary, Soka Gakkai through it's original
religious activities, working hard to indirectly purify politics, by this
activity, should choose to follow the road toward the political realization
of obutsu inyogo.
